Ok, this is just a thought.

This forum has been around for a while, and most people has been supporting it from the days where it was actually an official message board for Nikki's site.

But now the number of posts are falling, and the number of active members are falling to. I seem to always see the exact same names in just about every topic.

So I was thinking of converting the forum in to a portal. It would still contain a forum part, but there would also be a photo galley, a news section, articles, and just about everything you'd expect from a portal.

So I'm just wanting to hear, what everyone thinks of the idea, and I'd also like some suggestions as to what software we could use, if we were to convert the forum. (Don't worry about which software has a conversion feature for the data from this forum, as I'll take care of the conversion, and I wouldn't mind writing my own converter if needed.)

So what do you think? Keep the forum as is, or transform it to a portal/community?

"If it ain't broke, why fix it ?"

The forum works and we all know our way around it, so what is the point of changing it ?

Will the conversion to a "Portal" (GOD only knows what one of those are) offer any advantages to us the users and you the person kind enough to be hosting it ?

It will offer better options for photo galleries, posting of news, and whatever we might need in the future, like sharing of certain kinds of files, could be self produced music, poems (Like text files, word documets etc.), and whatever imagination brings up.

I like it the way it is now. Does it really matter that there's only a few people on here reguarly? Besides we've had a few new people join up eg. Bex, Siane ect...
I think that we're a internet community on here. A lot of us share interests and contact each other outside the forum. But we can come on here and just generally talk and know who's gonna be seeing our messages. In other words I like being 'close-knit'.

Is there a 'portal' that you could direct us to, to see? I still don't really know what one is.

Well I've had a really good think about it.  I think a portal would be a great Idea and we should get a team together to design it and make it look good.  It might get a few more people to join up to the Nikki community and talk about their experiences with Nikki etc.

Plus with the portal you can upload things like (song samples), video's, etc.

The one thing I want to happen is that the forum for the portal MUST LOOK GOOD, and it should also be user friendly.

Thats my opinion anyway, but if we can get the portal looking just as good as the Wii one then we are on fire Tongue.

The idea was to use some ready made protal software, and just convert the forum data.

If the forum is simply a prominent add-on to a wider portal, I wouldn't mind either.
