Ok, as most of you have noticed by now, I've installed new forum software.

This software has several interesting new features, like a calender, new message editor, other smilies, and nummerous changes on the admin side.

Fill your birthday in your profile to have it displayed on the calender..

I've also made Leanne and Grumtatt admins, and they will be the ones who'll do most of the changes around here. I'll stick to things like uploading avatars, updating the forum software etc.

Even though I mentioned earlier, that I'd probably remove my account, this won't be the case. I'll most likely need it to perform maintainece task, and I might occationally make a post or two. But this is also the point where I'll sortof retire. I'll ofcause be helping Leanne and Grumtatt getting started on the admin duties, but the regular users won't notice me much after today.

So have fun, and good luck in the future.

Thanks for the "promotion" Chano. I'll do my best to do a good job and keep everyone happy.

I wish my "first day at work" hadn't coincided with the launch of new Forum Software though. I think the task would have been a little bit easier if I had started off working with a layout I was familiar with.

Well, the old one was practically unusable from the admin point of view, and I've been thinking of changing for quite some time.. So I decided to just switch, instead of wasting time repairing the old one..

So, enjoy.. You can just take the time you need to get used to the new system.. That's OK with me.. I'll still be around for a few days..

A few things which I've noticed so far..
The change to the image tag (see http://offmb.nikkiwebster.dk/index.php/topic,2021.0.html) doesn't work on this board.
Spell check doesn't seem to have an English dictionary installed.

The image tag change, was a patch I made to the phpBB code, so no, it's not in effect anymore, and I don't think I'll mess around with the code, just yet Wink

Spellchecking is not a feature I know how works. Probably it's using aspell or ispell.. I'll look in to it.. Later..

I see this new software (hides face in shame, in case the previous software also had this facility) offers "Spell Check".

Everyone knows that I spend as much time after I have typed in a new message or reply, with a dictionary, trying to find and correct all my spelling mistakes before posting, so I thought "Goody Goody, a spell checker" ..... only to find that it doesn't work ..... well at least not in ENGLISH !

hehe .... but that shouldn't be much a problem for most of this forum's members .... since they write in AUSTRALIAN  wink

Is the Spell Checker supposed to work or is it a disabled feature ?

As James mentioned, it didn't have a dictionary installed, but that should be fixed now.. I've installed an english (That's UK, US and Canadian english) dictionary.. And a danish one, but guess that's not as relevant on this board Wink

Oooh it's a bit busy on the eye isn't it? Hmm I'm sure it'll be more than fine once I'm used to it and got over the initial 'OMG IT'S CHANGED' factor. Anyway, thankyou for your hardwork, it has been appreciated. Smiley

So did I as it was easier to administer, but then again, it was also very insecure and as such, it's better to change it BEFORE someone destroys the board, because of insecure forum software.

Also the new one has some pretty interesting features, that I kinda like, but the design ain't really the best..
