Just added the following ranks.

Suggestions for other names, new ranks, different post counts for a rank, or rank icons are welcome. The icons can be mailed to me at nikkiboard@chanoandersen.dk

Feel free to remove your special rank if you like. It won't remove you as an Admin. Tongue

Sorry, but I hate these sort of rankings.

Now we are in danger of becoming like Delta's Forum where someone posts a question or requests some information ......... and immediately 5,000 members all post responses like "Dunno" or "Sorry I can't help" just to increase their post count and speed their "promotion" to the next rank.

The QUALITY of messages posted is just as important (if not MORE important) as QUANTITY

So PLEASE let's not start a deluge of pointless, one line messages, as people race to overtake Matt.

Please note that I have NOT suggested a "character or word count" to replace the "message count", even though that would favour members like me, because that could encourage people to waffle .......... and pages of meaningless waffle are no better than pages of worthless one-liners.

In that case the mods have better wake up from hibernation, and start moderating then? Wouldn't be a problem to keep those pointless posts away.

And if it becomes a problem, it can be removed as easy as it could be added.

I actually agree with Graham.  But I don't really think anyone's in a race to catch up with Matt (and thankfully so).  I'm the second highest poster and Matt is more than double my post count.
It is great we have more space to allow for more posts but short and unnecessary replies are just boring to read. People should realise that they don't have to reply to every post.  wink

cool love how the board comeing along
but i with Grumtatt i don't want it to become like the delta board where thay talk about what they had for tea or i just posted my 1000 post like that.
i think we should only post the realy inported stuff
it ok to ask what the fave tv show and thing like that and get to know the other people on here but the borad is here to support nikki not to makes idoits out of ourselfs.
and ranking the post it wired we come here to found out info on nikki and stuff not to have a race to see how much post we can do
hope it don't get like the delta board

Don't worry, if it ends up with a race for a new rank, they'll just be removed again. It's just a fun little feature, meant for informational purposes. The names of the ranks are mostly what decides if it becomes a race or not, and if the ranks are promoting competition, then we should probably find some other ranks instead?

In my expirience, it's the minority that are really interested in advancing to the next rank. But again, if it becomes a problem, the names can be changed, or the ranking can be disabled again. (Or reduced to just 3, New Member, Member and Admin)

Never been there, but I know bad messageboards, as I'm moderator on the biggest community site en Denmark, where kids are using the messageboard all the time, and yeah, a lot of junk are posted all the time, at a faster pace than we can delete it, at times. :-S
